Yosemite Asters



Yosemite Aster
Aster occidentalis var. yosemitanus


A variety common to drying meadow fringes and forest floors.

Elevation: 4,000 to 7,000 feet

The blossoms have 20-35 purple ray flowers around yellow disk flowers. The 12 to 24 inch stem is multi-branched near the top, each branch having a blossom at its tip.

Sunflower Family

aster means "star", occidentalis means "western", and yosemitanus means "of Yosemite".
