Wintergreen family

Non-chlorophyll bearing member of the wintergreen and orchid families. The roots of the plant are intricately associated with a fungi. The fungi break down organic material in the forest soil into compounds which the plant then can absorb as food.

From 1 to 3 feet tall.
June to August.
